Project: Greening Private Enterprises in Kosovo “

Caritas Switzerland (CACH)’s Country Office for Kosovo is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of

Expert in supporting Innovations for SMEs in Green Transition

(Outcome 3 Manager)

Under the supervision of the Team Leader (TL), the Outcome Managers will support the implementation of the Project “Greening Private Enterprises in Kosovo “, in line with Caritas Switzerland rules and regulations and donors’ requirements.

We are in search of knowledgeable, experienced and innovative candidates for the three positions in the fields identified below for our upcoming project. The employment is possible if Caritas Switzerland is awarded the project “Greening Private Enterprises in Kosovo” by SDC.

Position summary:

Outcome Managers will implement activities planned under the project “Greening Private Enterprises in Kosovo “, in line with the given intervention as described in the approved project document.

Outcomes are the following:

  1. Innovations, as well as new business models in the areas of the green transition that lead to a better productivity and competitiveness have been integrated in Kosovo´s economy.

Main responsibilities for each Outcome:

  • Identifying Innovative Solutions: Researching and identifying innovative technologies, practices, and solutions that can help SMEs reduce their environmental impact and enhance sustainability.
  • Providing Technical Assistance: Offering technical guidance and support to SMEs in adopting and implementing innovative green technologies and practices.
  • Facilitating Research and Development: Collaborating with SMEs to develop and test new products, processes, or services that contribute to the green transition.
  • Creating Innovation Programmes: Designing and implementing programs that promote innovation among SMEs, including workshops, hackathons, and innovation challenges focused on sustainability.
  • Access to Finance, Funding and Resources: Helping SMEs identify and access to finance, funding opportunities, grants and investment resources available for green innovation initiatives.
  • Networking and Partnerships: Building networks and partnerships between SMEs, research institutions, industry experts, and technology providers to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Promoting Best Practices: Sharing successful case studies and examples of innovative practices in the green transition from various sectors to inspire SMEs.
  • Monitoring Trends: Keeping abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and market demands in sustainability and green innovation, and communicating this information to SMEs.
  • Evaluating Impact: Developing metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of innovative practices and technologies on SME performance and sustainability goals.
  • Advocacy and Policy Engagement: Engaging with policymakers to advocate for supportive policies and incentives that encourage innovation in the green transition for SMEs.

The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, environmental science and finance. Advanced master’s degree or equivalent is an asset;
  • Experience in implementation of Private Sector Development projects with the capacities to directly advise companies, but also intermediaries and the government on technical aspects related to the green and just transition;
  • Knowledge on the EU Green Deal, Western Balkans Green Agenda and Green and Just Transition
  • Experience in supporting Innovations, as well as new business models in the green transition that lead to increased productivity and competitiveness.
  • Hands-on experience in:
    • developing and scaling green business ideas and processes that support SMEs to reduce the environmental impact of their business activities;
    • supporting activities at the interface between the green and digital transition of the economy; create examples on how businesses successfully adapt to climate change.
  • Experience in collaboration with International Organisations or NGOs, Government Institutions, and NGOs in the field of climate change and environmental protection, youth activism, or related fields;
  • Advanced skills in planning, communication, facilitation, and coordination;
  • Excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken). Excellent knowledge of at least one local language (Albanian, Serbian), knowledge of a second local language is considered an asset;
  • Very good skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc);
  • Working experience with gender mainstreaming and conflict-sensitiveness is considered an asset;
  • A valid driving license: Willingness to travel throughout Kosovo;
